Film Impact Georgia Development Lab
The Film Impact Georgia Development Lab (FIGDL) is designed to support Southern voices by fostering the colorful stories that only the South has to offer. In the process, we position our community as visionaries, entrepreneurs, and storytellers, impacting audiences around the world. One of Film Impact Georgia’s primary goals, specifically for feature film projects, is to support independent filmmakers from the development of their ideas through distribution.
An Immersive Weekend
Taking place over the course of an immersive weekend, the pilot year will focus on developing horror feature projects with four filmmakers and four mentors. With Georgia being the production home of hit series such as The Walking Dead and The Vampire Diaries, while also already consistently producing horror content locally, this seemed a natural starting point.
Connect with Industry Mentors
Putting participants in the same room as film industry veterans, the lab is structured to further the participants’ careers, providing guidance on the craft and business of screenwriting. Organized around one-on-one mentoring sessions, group discussions, and support that continues beyond the weekend, participants can dig into the “whats” and the “whys” to assist them in successfully producing their projects.
Applying is FREE
Applications will be free and open to any writer with a completed draft of a feature-length horror script who calls Georgia home and has an eye on producing their project in the state of Georgia. Furthermore, the lab will be open to all filmmakers, regardless of experience level, education, or previous accomplishments.
